As January 2026 marks the 10th anniversary of David Bowieâs passing, BBC Radio 6 Music presents a landmark week of programming dedicated to the âStarmanâ himself. From deep-dive documentaries to the sonic recreation of his personal notes, the station celebrates the man who redefined the 1970s and beyond.

Kate Moss and the âChangelingâ Years

Beginning Monday, 5th January (11pm), supermodel and close friend Kate Moss hosts extended editions of David Bowie: Changeling. This four-part series explores Bowieâs radical transformation in the early 70s. These hour-long specials feature unheard audio from Moss and exclusive insights from Bowieâs lifelong friend Geoff MacCormack, who recalls the night he and David first witnessed an unknown Bruce Springsteen in New York. The series also includes fresh contributions from Rick Owens and St. Vincent.

Bringing the Archives to Life

On Sunday, 4th January (12pm), 6 Music breathes life into a literal piece of history with Memo for Radio Show. Curators at the new David Bowie Centre (V&A East Storehouse) unearthed a handwritten note listing Bowieâs favorite records. The program plays all 15 tracksâranging from The Beatles and Miles Davis to the Legendary Stardust Cowboyâinterspersed with archive recordings of Bowieâs voice, effectively allowing the icon to âhostâ his own show from beyond.

The commemorations culminate on Friday, 9th January, with âDavid Bowie Forever.â From 7am to 7pm, 6 Musicâs core presenters are joined by legendary guests for deep-dive discussions:

Nick Grimshaw & Ezra Furman on Bowieâs enduring influence.

Lauren Laverne & Henry Rollins on his prolific collaborations.

Craig Charles & Brett Anderson on the magic of Hunky Dory.

Huw Stephens & Neil Tennant on Bowieâs profound impact on queer culture.

The week concludes on 11th January with Mary Anne Hobbs and Iggy Pop exploring the âBerlin Years,â focusing on the avant-garde brilliance of the 1977 album Low. It is a comprehensive tribute to a true British enigma.
