Music News: Crystal Gayle Cancels Concerts

Crystal Gayle has withdrawn from an upcoming appearance in Ireland due to a knee injury.

The 75-year-old country icon was scheduled to participate in the Your Roots Are Showing conference in Belfast this week. Following a recent torn meniscus in her knee, doctors have recommended against her traveling.

âI was really looking forward to visiting Belfast, performing a few songs, sharing some stories, and spending time with everyone,â Gayle stated in a press release.

âHowever, my doctor has advised me that my knee is not yet ready for the overseas journey. I assure you, I will be Ready for the Times to Get Better,â she added, referencing her 1976 hit.

âJust not at 30,000 feet next week. Thank you for your understanding, and I hope we can reschedule soon.â

Gayle achieved a series of hits including Iâll Get Over You, Why Have You Left the One You Left Me For, and her final No. 1 hit, Straight to the Heart, in 1986.

Despite her chart successes, the country superstar has continued to be active in performing and recording throughout the years.

She recently recorded a new rendition of the Burt Bacharach classic What the World Needs Now Is Love for the upcoming album Melodic Genius â the Songs of Burt Bacharach, set to be released in the spring.
