Fans have slammed Tate McRae after she appeared in an âickâ ad for Team USA.

The Canadian singerâs home-country followers were quick to express their disappointment after she seemingly switched allegiance to the United States of America.

Tate, 22, appeared in a promo video for Team USA ahead of the 2026 Winter Olympics in Cortina, Italy, which she then shared on her Instagram page.

âIâm trying to get to Milan for an amazing opening ceremony to meet Team USA,â the pop star said in the clip, before talking up American athletes and name-dropping the Super Bowl football championship game.

âThen itâs the weekend with Americaâs best skating for gold and Lindsey Vonnâs epic comeback. And back to the States for the big game, Super Bowl LX.â

âThe absolute ick every Canadian just felt,â one wrote on social media. âIn 2026⦠what were you and your team thinking?â

âNo amount of money could make me endorse the country that threatens mine,â another commented.

Others demanded Tate cheerlead for Canada, not America.

ââMeet team USAâ. Tate my Canadian princess you need to stand upâ¦embrace ur Albertan roots,â wrote one.

âTeam USA,â one posted. âArenât you team Canada @tatemcrae?â

The backlash did not go unnoticed by Tateâs social-media account, with the singer later sharing a photograph of herself as a child, waving the Canadian flag.
