Music News: Sublime Confirms First LP In 30 Years
Sublime have announced their first album in almost three decades.
In March 2025, Jakob Nowell â the son of late frontman Bradley Nowell â revealed that he was working with original members Eric Wilson and Bud Gaugh, as well as Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker, on new music.Â
The Santeria hitmakers hadnât released any tracks since they dropped their self-titled record in July 1996.Â
But in a statement issued on Wednesday, Jakob shared that the ska punk groupâs fourth studio album, Until the Sun Explodes, will be released on 12 June. The albumâs title track is now available to stream.Â
âThe last Sublime record that will ever be made is Self-Titled. Thereâs no replacing history, period. Until The Sun Explodes, the album, is an epilogue, and Until The Sun Explodes, the single, is the epilogue to the epilogue,â the 30-year-old commented. âIt is a tribute to the expansive works of Sublime, it is an acknowledgement for all that my father has done for me my entire life, and most importantly it is a thank you. I love you dad, and I owe you my life.âÂ
Meanwhile, a music video for Until The Sun Explodes has also dropped.Â
Directed by Ryan Baxley, the footage features sites across California, including the Bamboo Bowl at Huntington Beach.Â
âThis song is the title track of our new album and it expresses the gratitude we all feel as well as our intent for the future of our band and the music we love!â added drummer Gaugh. âUntil the Sun Explodes is our reality. Thank you for enjoying life with us!âÂ
Sublime is next set to perform in Melbourne, Australia on 1 April.
