Music News: Britney Spears Threatens Legal Action
Britney Spears has threatened her former bodyguard with legal action after he allegedly hacked into her personal devices.
The Toxic hitmakerâs lawyer fired off a cease-and-desist letter to Thomas Bunbury in February, accusing him of violating numerous state and federal laws by allegedly accessing her devices and Apple iCloud account without her authorisation or consent.Â
In the letter, which was obtained by TMZ, the pop starâs lawyer warned Bunbury to stay away from her accounts and devices, delete any photos or documents he might have copied from them, and disclose if he had shared the images and information with anyone else.
The lawyer threatened to report Bunbury to the police and press charges if he did not comply with their demands.Â
Sources told the outlet that the bodyguard was fired in August last year for allegedly breaking his non-disclosure agreement by communicating with the press and Britneyâs fans.Â
The report comes weeks after the 44-year-old was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of a combination of drugs and alcohol in Ventura, California earlier this month.Â
According to law enforcement, Britneyâs black BMW was seen âdriving erratically at a high rate of speedâ, and she âshowed signs of impairmentâ when pulled over. After submitting to field sobriety tests, the star was arrested and taken into custody.Â
She was released the following morning and is due to appear in court on 4 May.Â
At the time, her manager said in a statement, âThis was an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable. Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law and hopefully this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britneyâs life.â
The Princess of Pop, who has since deactivated her Instagram account, was spotted out in public for the first time since her arrest on Sunday. She was photographed shopping in Malibu.
