Remembering the Legacy of Ronettes Singer Nedra Talley: A Tribute to a Music Icon

Nedra was a key part of the iconic girl group that helped shape the sound of the 1960s with hits like “Be My Baby” and “Walking in the Rain”. Music News: Last Ronette Nedra Talley: Dead At 80

Nedra Talley Ross, who with her cousins Ronnie Spector and Estelle Bennett formed the iconic 1960s girl group The Ronettes, has died. She was 80 years of age.

In a Sunday (4.26,) Facebook post, the singerâs passing was confirmed by her daughter, Nedra K Ross, who wrote âAt approximately 8:30 this morning, our mother, Nedra Talley Ross, went home to be with the Lord.â âShe was safe in her own bed at home with her family close, knowing she was loved. Thank you, Lord.â

While working with legendary record producer Phil Spector, Talley Ross, Bennett and Spector rose to prominence in 1963 as the Ronettes recording such hits as âBe My Baby; Baby, I Love Youâ and âWalking in the Rain.

Taking to social media, the groupâs official Instagram page posted:

âIt is with heavy hearts that we share the news of Nedra Talley Rossâ passing. She was a light to those who knew and loved her.â âAs a founding member of The Ronettes, along with her beloved cousins Ronnie and Estelle, Nedraâs voice, style and spirit helped define a sound that would change music. Her contribution to the groupâs story and their defining influence will live forever.â âRest peacefully dear Nedra. Thanks for the magic.â

In 2007, The Ronettes were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
