Music News: Shakira Crew Member Killed On Stage

On Sunday (4.26,) while assembling the stage, a crew member working on Shakiraâs upcoming Brazilian concert was killed.

In a formal social media statement, the organizers of the upcoming Todo Mundo No Rio (Everyone in Rio) concert confirmed the passing of the construction worker, stated:

âThe event organisers confirm that an accident this Sunday afternoon (April 26) tragically claimed the life of a professional who was working on assembling the structures for the show.â âFirst responders provided initial care at the scene, and the Fire Department was immediately called to transport the patient. Unfortunately, the professional passed away at the hospital.â âAt this time, we are providing all support, comfort, and solidarity to the responsible company, its team, and the victimâs family.âÂ

According to the state fire brigade (CBMERJ) âA worker suffered crushing injuries to his lower limbs in a lifting system. Before the arrival of emergency teams, the victim had already been removed from the equipment by other employees present.â

An eyewitness on the beach told news agency AFP that he saw the structure âon the groundâ and people were saying âa man had gotten trapped underneathâ. He saw people running over to âpull him outâ.Â

Yet to comment on the incident, the Columbian-born superstar singer/songwriter is scheduled to headline the annual free outdoor concert on Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro on Saturday, May 2.

Having previously featured Madonna and Lady Gaga, the free Todo Mundo no Rio concert series has drawn in crowds of 1,600,00 to 2,500,000 since its inception in 2024.
